The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a recently started, fast growing research hospital for pediatric oncology. The aim of the center is to cure all children with cancer with minimal long-term treatment side effects. The center wants to achieve this by combining excellent care and innovative research in a new national center that is currently being constructed. An essential part of the center is the biobank containing patient material and (specific) patient data. Collecting, archiving and managing of the material and associated data in a uniform and large-scale manner creates a unique biobank that will provide an enormous boost to research into the initiation and progression of cancer in children. The new center will be opened in 2018.
We are currently in the process of establishing the biobank. This includes the implementation of an IT system, establishing regulations, data management procedures, work processes, handling procedures of (digital) material and data requests, designing the governance structure, etc. To facilitate this we are looking for a data steward for the biobank. The biobank data steward will be part of the diagnostic laboratory in the Princess Máxima Center.
