Netherlands Evolutionary Biology Prize for Julian Vosseberg

The Netherlands Evolutionary Biology Prize 2022 has been awarded to Juilian Vosseberg, PhD candidate in the Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics group at Utrecht University. The prize is awarded annually by the Netherlands Society for Evolutionary Biology (NSEB) for the best peer-reviewed paper. Vosseberg’s winning paper describes the results of a sophisticated and robust bioinformatic analysis of genomic data of duplicated genes, to shed new light on genomic events that took place during the transition from prokaryotes to eukaryotes.

"The analysis of this paper is of high quality, and an excellent example of how the growing availability of genome information can be interrogated to learn about genomic processes in our first eukaryotic ancestors"
