Meet our new Data Steward: Jasmin Böhmer

As data steward I offer support in composing the data section of the national and international grant applications, as well as penning the required Data Management Plan and achieving FAIR data are part of my occupational portfolio.
I am an archivist turned over to information specialist, who currently brings research data management closer to academics and staff at UMC Utrecht and the wider Utrecht Bioinformatics Center (UBC). Advocating about standardized data sharing and long-term archiving of research data is one of my passions. Previously I have worked in the central research data services of TU Delft Library.

As Data Steward I can provide researchers with the appropriate guidance and support for their data during and after a project. Becoming the Data Steward of the Centre for Molecular Medicine and being part of the UMCU Bioinformatics Expertise Core enabled me to participate in excellent research support services, and vanguard developments in Data Stewardship of bioinformatics data. Improving the UBC facility for High Performance Computing towards a FAIR data point will be one of my areas of application regarding the FAIR data principles. Research projects can hire my services to increase their compliance to the FAIR and open data requirements along with the Data Management Plan imposed by the funders.

In addition, my goal is to incrementally change the culture of current research data management habits. Whether it is the data management and documentation in the course of the active research phase, or the publication and preservation of all research output subsequent to the project’s end, good Data Stewardship will steer your research data into safe havens.”
