€3.1m grant for pediatric cancer research

UBC member Patrick Kemmeren and his team receive a €3.1 million Euro grant to build a data collection of more than 4,000 childhood cancer genomes. The grant is provided by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The grant allows Kemmeren’s team to collect large-scale data on the DNA abnormalities, gene activity and clinical data of children with cancer. This enables future research into new DNA abnormalities, that could ultimately enhance diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer.

Patrick Kemmeren is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Molecular Medicine and head of the Big Data Core research facility at UMC Utrecht.
