Message from the Executive Committee

Dear UBC,
As the year draws to a close, we look back with pride and appreciation on a truly memorable edition of our annual symposium. The lively discussions, the exchange of ideas and the warm sense of connection once again highlighted the strength and ambition of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this day!
Looking ahead, we are excited to deepen our involvement in the Multi-scale Spatial Omics Platform in close collaboration with Kristof van Avondt and the Strategic Theme Life Sciences (STLS) community. Spatial transcriptomics and related technologies are developing quickly, and we see a clear need for bioinformatics methods that are both powerful and accessible to researchers across the Utrecht Science Park. By addressing this need, we can position Utrecht even more firmly at the forefront of data-driven life sciences.
We also extend our warm congratulations to Albert Heck and the BioBeyond_NL team, as well as to Daniel Tamarit , for securing new funding that will help advance their research.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season and an inspiring start to the new year!

Message from the Executive Committee

Dear UBC,
We hope you had a restful and inspiring summer, and that the new academic year has begun smoothly.
Joining UBC this year is the Bioinformatics team from the Institute of Life Sciences and Chemistry (ILC) at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. Their expertise and fresh perspectives will strengthen our network, and we look forward to the many collaborations their partnership will spark.
On 7 November, we will come together for the 11th UBC Symposium, themed Bioinformatics in the Age of AI. The program includes keynote lectures by UBC fellow Alexandre Bonvin and international guests Prof. Yiliang Ding and Dr. Sebastian Lobentanzer. We will also feature contributions from the ILC Bioinformatics team. In addition, our community’s latest research will be highlighted through pitch talks and posters.
Above all, we are excited to connect in person, exchange ideas, spark collaborations, and continue building the UBC network. We look forward to seeing you on 7 November!
Warm regards,
Ronnie de Jonge
