Message from the Executive Committee

Dear UBC,

We hope you had a restful and inspiring summer, and that the new academic year has begun smoothly.

Joining UBC this year is the Bioinformatics team from the Institute of Life Sciences and Chemistry (ILC) at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. Their expertise and fresh perspectives will strengthen our network, and we look forward to the many collaborations their partnership will spark.

On 7 November, we will come together for the 11th UBC Symposium, themed Bioinformatics in the Age of AI. The program includes keynote lectures by UBC fellow Alexandre Bonvin and international guests Prof. Yiliang Ding and Dr. Sebastian Lobentanzer. We will also feature contributions from the ILC Bioinformatics team. In addition, our community’s latest research will be highlighted through pitch talks and posters.

Above all, we are excited to connect in person, exchange ideas, spark collaborations, and continue building the UBC network. We look forward to seeing you on 7 November!

Warm regards,

Ronnie de Jonge

Inspiring connections at the 2nd Bioinformatics Industry Day

The Bioinformatics Industry Day 2025 brought together students, researchers, and professionals from across the life sciences sector. The event served as a platform for bioinformatics students and researchers to explore career opportunities outside academia. Students were able to connect directly with Utrecht-based innovative organizations working at the forefront of biotechnology and data science.

The UBC’s support for QBio

The UBC has been actively supporting interdisciplinary collaboration through the Quantitative Biology (QBio) symposium and its bi-weekly seminars.
